After having operated our hackerspace<\/a> \u2013 Level2<\/em> \u2013 for over 11 years from the second floor of the Maison de la Jeunesse<\/em> in Bonnevoie (Luxembourg) we are now looking for a new location.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t get it wrong, we love Level2 <\/em>and will be very sad to leave our current premises. Over the years our members personalized it with inventions, posters and Blinkenlights and have even acquired a little collection of badges, medals and trophies from all the events and competitions that we took part in. Even the little quirks of the place, like the off-angle walls that give Level2<\/em> it\u2019s chaotic charm are part of what the club has come to be known for.<\/p>\n\n\n

But in order to enable our future projects and collaborations, we will have to move on to a bigger space and even if it won\u2019t be easy to let go, it will be worth it in the end, since the future holds great promises\u2026 after all, we won\u2019t be moving alone:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After offering our rooms to support CodeClub<\/em><\/a>\u2019s\n weekly youth meetings, around science and technology, for quite some \ntime now, we\u2019re happy to announce that they will be joining us in our \nfuture location.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

\n

But they aren\u2019t the only ones;
make it<\/a><\/em>, the youth-club behing the self eSTEAM<\/a> initiative, organizers of the yearly Maker-Faire<\/a> and many more activities for young makers in Luxembourg will also be joining us!<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

By combining our forces we hope to offer even more activities and opportunities to build and learn together, for big and small alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What we stand for!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Level2<\/em> is a safe-space for anyone, no matter who they are, where the come from or how they identify. We are a melting-pot for people of all walks of life to meet, talk about- and work on projects and tech together. The only thing everyone has in common here is a shared interest in science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same thing can be said about Make It<\/em> and CodeClub<\/em> which don\u2019t just excel in terms of acceptance but also at getting the youth excited about tech and science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/div>\n\n\n\n

What are we looking for?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To accommodate our 3 ASBLs, the gear AND<\/em> all the makers, coders and guests, we will need a bigger location. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An ideal location would be at least around 256m\u00b2<\/strong> and accessible 24\/7<\/strong> to our members. Additionally, restrooms, access to running water, electricity and internet access<\/strong> are indispensable. An old warehouse or industrial building with a workshop would be perfect for this but we won\u2019t complain about unused offices or older buildings either. Furthermore, Accessibility is<\/strong> key<\/strong> for us so that members and guests can easily get to the space if they want to. A location that is either easily accessible by public transport from around the country or close to Luxembourg city <\/strong>would be ideal for this. The ability to park close-by and wheelchair accessibility<\/strong> would also be appreciated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 What does the future hold?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The first and biggest step on our list right now is finding and securing a new location that is able to accommodate our 3 ASBLs and our projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apart from that we will be attending events like Science Festival<\/a><\/em> or Makerfest<\/a><\/em> where you can come to meet us all and learn something about computers, coding and robotics. We are also planning on hosting a few small workshops by our members in the near future: coding, robotics, electronics, 3D printing, AI …<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lastly, we\u2019re planning for projects which we couldn\u2019t do until now because we were lacking space. This includes getting bigger equipment like a lathe or welding room. Also reinstalling a permanent exhibit around the history of computing, akin to the Computer Museum<\/a> we had at our first location Stage1<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2013 Does this mean Level2 is closed for the moment?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

NO<\/strong>! Level2 is still open<\/strong> and we won\u2019t start moving until the end of summer. If you are interested and want to know what Level2<\/em> is like, come to on one of our openTuesday<\/em>\u2019s<\/em>, where we are freely open to the public (on every Tuesday; duh<\/em>) from 20:00pm onward. Additionally, if you are between 12 and 18 you can come to one of CodeClub<\/em>\u2018s weekly meetings on Thursdays, from 18:00 to 20:00pm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
